Every trail walker is certified
Our trail walkers aren't hobbyists. Before anyone leads a pack out on the trail, they hold these certifications.
Canada's premier canine first aid certification — covering CPR, choking response, wound care, and emergency stabilization. Essential for wilderness walks where help can be hours away.
A science-based, behaviour-led approach to preventing and alleviating fear, anxiety, and stress in the dogs we care for. It's how we keep walks safe, calm, and genuinely enjoyable for every dog in the pack.
Informed by science, guided by empathy, governed by ethics. We follow the Pet Professional Guild's force-free standard — no shock, no prong, no choke, no pain — across every walk, sleepover, and training session.
What we carry on every single walk
Whistler and Pemberton trails are real backcountry — wildlife, cliffs, and cell dead zones are part of the job. Every handler heads out prepared to handle an emergency without waiting for help.
Packs are capped at 6 dogs per handler, by design — small enough to keep every dog in sight, recalled, and safe.
- Full canine trauma kit — for wounds, cuts, and stabilization on the trail.
- Bear spray — carried and trained on, every walk.
- Satellite communicator — to call for help where there's no cell signal.
- Emergency carry sling — to safely move an injured dog off-trail.
- Fresh water & bowls — more than we think we'll need, every stop.
- Recall-assessed dogs only — off-leash access is earned, not assumed.
Our hot-weather walk policy
Nothing outranks keeping your dog safe. On hot days we don't guess — we work from written thresholds, cross-checked between The Weather Network and the Government of Canada forecast. If the two disagree, we plan for the hotter one.

When a walk is cancelled for heat, the client is never charged, and we offer a short private neighbourhood walk in its place — so a dog home alone still gets out to relieve themselves, top up water, and settle until their family is home. When in doubt, we call it: a short, safe walk beats a heat emergency, every time.

Every walker is carefully vetted by management — and before anyone is trusted with a client's dog, they've earned that trust with our own dogs first. The same familiar faces, week after week — never a stranger from an app.
Sittings and drop-ins come with photo and video updates every visit — so you always know your dog was walked, fed, and happy.
The equipment we choose — and why
Years on BC's trails teach you what holds up and what fails when it's cold, wet, and muddy. These are the brands we actually use.
Why: waterproof biothane doesn't soak up rain, mud, or river water the way nylon does — it wipes clean, won't rot, and keeps its grip through a full BC winter. We use handmade gear from Kirsten's Canine Gear, built for these trails.
Why: in the backcountry, a dog that bolts after wildlife can be out of sight in seconds. A live GPS tracker means real-time location instead of guesswork. We recommend Tractive.
Why: reward-based recall only works if the treat is worth coming back for — and gentle enough to use all walk without upsetting a dog's stomach. We reach for local, human-grade treats from partners like Chew Love and Wow Treats & More.
