Whistler Dog Walking — Small Pack, Off-Leash Trail Adventures
Small packs, big adventures — trusted care for your dog in Whistler & Pemberton, BC.
Dog walking in Whistler isn't like dog walking anywhere else.
You don't move to the Sea-to-Sky corridor for a leash-only stroll around the block — and neither does your dog. Doggy Tales is a Whistler-based dog walking service built for the way people actually live here: long off-leash trail days, snowy winter shifts, hot summers spent in lakes and shaded forest, and an active wildlife corridor that demands real backcountry training, not just a leash and a smile.
We run small pack group walks of six dogs or fewer, private adventure walks for dogs that need one-on-one focus, and pet sitting and sleepovers for clients away on a ski day or longer trip. Every walker is DogSafe & Fear Free certified, fully insured, and carries bear spray, a satellite SOS device, GPS-tracked collars, and a canine first-aid kit on every single walk.
Service area: Whistler Village, Creekside, Alpine Meadows, Emerald Estates, WedgeWoods, and Pemberton. See the trails we walk on our interactive Whistler dog trail map, or take the 60-second quiz to find the right service for your dog.

Whistler Dog Walking FAQs
Are your dog walks off-leash?
Yes — every group walk is designed as an off-leash trail adventure on dog-friendly Whistler and Pemberton trails. Dogs need a reliable recall to join group walks; if your dog is still building recall, we use a 20-foot long line on private adventure walks so they get freedom safely while we train. See our Whistler dog trail map for the routes we run.
How many dogs are in a group walk?
A maximum of six dogs per walker. Small packs are the only way we run group walks — it's safer, calmer, and means your dog gets real attention instead of being managed at a distance. Many other Whistler dog walking services run 8–12; we don't.
What if my dog is reactive, anxious, or doesn't do well in groups?
Book a private adventure walk instead. These are one-on-one sessions tailored to your dog's pace, triggers, and training goals — perfect for reactive dogs, recovering rescues, puppies still learning manners, or senior dogs who want quiet trail time. Every walker is Fear Free certified.
Do you walk dogs in winter?
Year-round, Tuesday through Sunday. Whistler winter walks happen on packed, plowed, and snowshoe-friendly trails — we adjust route, pace, and duration for the conditions, swap to lakes and shaded forest when summer heat spikes, and have a clear cold-weather and heat-stress policy for breed and age. Your dog comes home dry, fed, and tired.
Where do you walk? Which Whistler trails do you use?
We rotate across Lost Lake, Cheakamus Lake, Rainbow Lake, Riverside, Alpha Lake, Train Wreck, and One Mile Lake in Pemberton — choosing the right trail for the day's group, season, and weather. Our full route library is on the interactive trail map. We pick up and drop off across Whistler Village, Creekside, Alpine Meadows, Emerald, WedgeWoods, and Pemberton.
Are your dog walkers certified and insured?
Every Doggy Tales walker is DogSafe Canine First Aid certified and Fear Free certified for low-stress handling, plus the company carries full commercial liability insurance through The Co-operators. We also carry bear spray, a satellite SOS communicator, and a canine trail first-aid kit on every walk. Meet the team.

The Gear We Use on Every Whistler Dog Walk
Walking dogs in the Sea-to-Sky backcountry isn't the same as walking a city block. Every Doggy Tales walker carries purpose-built gear for bear country, alpine Whistler trails, and unpredictable mountain weather — so your dog gets the adventure without the risk.
Bear Bells
A steady jingle on every collar warns black bears long before we round the bend — and lets us audibly locate your dog the moment they slip out of sight while adventuring in the wild.
GPS Tracking Collars
Every group walk runs with real-time GPS — we use both Tractive and Dogtra tracking collars so if a dog chases a scent off-trail, we know exactly where they are within seconds.
Satellite Backcountry Beacons
SPOT satellite GPS trackers give us SOS and check-in messaging far beyond cell coverage — critical insurance on remote Whistler & Pemberton trails where a phone won't reach 911.
Long Lines & Draglines
A 20-foot biothane long line from Canine Steel gives recall-in-training dogs real off-leash freedom while keeping a safety tether at hand — the gold standard for building reliable trail manners.
Comfortable Y-Front Harnesses
We ask every client to provide a padded Y-front harness — brands like Ruffwear and RC Pets spread pressure across the chest instead of the throat, so dogs can hike all day without choking or shoulder strain, with a sturdy back clip if we ever need to lift them off the trail.
Canine Trail First-Aid Kit
Vet-wrap, tick keys, paw balm, an emergency sling, and bear spray ride in every pack — because the closest vet to a Whistler trailhead can be 30+ minutes away.
